Visited the place because of the quote I got from their sales department. Got there and got a MUCH HIGHER price. I asked for the reason for the high price, and they immediately shaved off $20 per month. They then told me the price also includes insurance (insurance amount unknown till this day)The older gentleman was very nice but the younger person there was kind of rude. So nah, I am renting a storage elsewhere.
The three guys running this place as of mid-September 2017 were terrific: Alex Stump (store manager), James Rafferty, and Billy Kerchner. They were "Indiana nice" in a way that I am not used to, in Chicago -- polite, very helpful, pro-active, and actually processed my refund like they'd promised to do -- another thing that I find harder and harder to make happen in the retail space, anymore. There was a leak in the unit that damaged a couple of hardwood pieces, but not the fault of ESS, because the facility was just recently sold to them by StorAmerica. I had my stuff in storage there for 5 years, and I think the new owners will be responsible and pro-active. I've just finally moved to a bigger place and could at last reclaim my antiques from storage.
If you’re looking for a storage unit, you should definitely look into this place! Alex and James called me multiple times before my “move in” date, just to see if I had any questions or concerns they could answer for me. I was driving in from Texas straight to the storage unit to get the keys to my unit and sign the paperwork, and I was running a little close to the office closing time. Alex was wonderful and kindly offered to stay a couple extra minutes! Seriously, this made my day and week so much easier, since the office was closed on Sunday and I would have had to wait until Monday, and I started work this day. He just provided great customer service and I really appreciated it! Plus, it didn’t feel like he was trying to rush me along so that he could leave - he answered all of my questions and made sure I got the unit I needed. Thank you!
