Kindness goes a long way!
I brought my dog here when her ear swelled and she was diagnosed with a hematoma and ear infections. The vet on call acted as if I was not keeping up with her care even though she had just been to her primary vet two weeks prior for a complete vet visit, shots, and dental. The surgery was over a thousand dollars and I had to return because the wrapping came undone almost immediately.
I hate giving reviews unless they are good but I was so disappointed by my visit I had to say something. No vet should make their patient feel like a bad pet parent. Especially when their dog is everything to them. Would have given one star but the receptionist I dealt with should have gotten five stars on her own.
I decided to take my dog home as to not be scammed by these unethical people any more. I was in tears thinking my dog was either going to die on the operating table or die from taking him home. They make me sign a release form stating that I understand the risk involved in taking my dog home. Talk about a gloom and doom style of care!
We have not been back. And to top it all off when I switched vets and needed my records transferred they would only release vaccination records to my new vet. I had to call and request the whole health record myself. They asked where I wanted them transferred I told them the name of the new vet. I also explained that my new vet had just called and told me that they had just called requesting. The receptionist said "well it wasn't me they talked to. So you don't have their fax or email?" I replied no, they just called someone in your office surely has it because you are sending vaccinations. She then scoffed and said "okay, I'll ask around to see who they spoke to." HEAVEN FORBID YOU PUT SOME EFFORT INTO YOUR JOB! Bye, Felicia!
I take very good care of my dog and forgo my own medical care so she can get taken care of.
The receptionist was also very kind and a positive to an otherwise sad and probably overworked staff/hospital.
GO TO PAW PATCH! I was a prior customer with all 3 of my dogs. My Rottweiler had gotten a pretty serious bite. Took her in and they wanted a grand to start the procedure, and a total of $1600. Told them I had $800 i could give them and the remainder in 2 days when I got paid, Iand was rudely told that they couldn't and wouldn't help her until they had $1000. I actually rescued these dogs. The lady told my wife that if she couldn't afford to pay the bill maybe she shouldn't have dogs. Good thing for her I don't hit women! I understand things cost money but to show no compassion, heartless So I took her to PAW PATCH where they did an excellent job for less than half the price and the staff bent over backwards to help cut costs. GO TO PAW PATCH
This place is terrible! I took my dog here after thinking he had ingested something he wasn't supposed to by digging in the trash (tmi: tampon.. I know so gross!) so the vet tells me he needs a $250 x-ray to tell if he has ingested anything. Of course I say yes, absolutely! Because this is after the vet gives me a whole speech about how dangerous a tampon can be for my dog. So we get the X-ray back and the vet says; "okay, we can see a gas pattern that could be something." So I ask; "like a tampon?" And she explains that an x-ray would not be able to detect any organic material, including a tampon. I'm immediately floored! I'm worried my dog may die and she just lied to me and talked me into paying almost $300 on an x-ray that wouldn't prove anything. She then proceeds to tell me my options. 1. (And the one she recommends) exploratory surgery that will cost at least $4,000 and could go up to $10,000. 2. Hospitalize him and put him on an IV for $2,000 a day. 3. Take him home and watch him and basically says if he continues to get worse the outcome is most likely death.
I too would give a zero if I could. After six years of wonderful service and care for my six animals at Companion Animal Hospital (now VCA) I just experienced an unbelievable experience. My vet called and dropped a bomb accusing me of verbally abusing and cursing the staff and losing my temper. This NEVER happened. She acknowledged that she had never witnessed this and I even asked if there was another client by the same name. She never asked me if anything was wrong but proceeded to tell me when I come in again "not to be so hard on the staff." I was stunned and had no idea what she was talking about. First of all I don't use foul language EVER! I had no idea anyone was unhappy about anything and have never left feeling upset. I would have immediately talked to the medical director if I thought anything was wrong. I too have noticed a big changed since VCA has acquired the hospital. The best vet ever left the practice shortly after. Can't but help but wonder why! I contacted VCA headquarters as well as sent them a detailed letter. I have not heard back from either the hospital or VCA. Something seems terribly wrong! Looking for a new vet!
This place is an absolute money grab. Our dog had an upset stomach for three days. He threw up and had some diarrhea and would not eat very much. We took him to the hospital. The visit was quick, they gave him an x-ray to check for blockage. After determining that he had no blockage, they gave him an anti-nausea shot. The 40 min visit turned out to be $400+. Really? All this to treat an upset stomach??? Call me absolutely nuts if we are not seeking a new Vet after this.
She asks me to decide this without my dog in the room. I of course refuse and ask her to bring my dog back in so I can see how he is acting to see if his lethargy has improved any since we have been there. Turns out it had and he hadn't puked in 7 hours. All evidence that would tell even a person without a veterinarian degree, that he was most likely on the mend.
I would not return unless it was the last possible choice.
